Salford is set for a brilliant weekend of colour, culture and community spirit
Salford is set for a brilliant weekend of colour, culture and community spirit as the UK Chinese Dragon Boat Festival returns to Salford Quays on Saturday 13 and Sunday 14 June 2026.
Taking place on the water at the Quays, the festival combines the excitement of dragon boat racing with a lively programme celebrating Chinese culture, making it a great day out for families, friends and anyone looking to experience something different locally.
What to expect:
Across the two days, visitors can look forward to:
Thrilling dragon boat races featuring youth teams, amateur crews (Saturday) and experienced competitors from across the UK (Sunday)
A vibrant festival atmosphere with Chinese food, music, dance and cultural performances on the Lowry Plaza
A welcoming community event that brings people together and celebrates Salford’s diversity
A major fixture in Salford’s cultural calendar
The event has been secured as a key part of Salford’s annual programme, with local partners agreeing a long-term commitment that will see the festival remain a highlight for years to come. The 2026 festival also coincides with Salford’s centenary celebrations (Salford 100), adding even more significance to the weekend.
